God Keep You With A Mother’s Strength

*In Scicli we heard harrowing stories of people at risk, and made a heartbreaking visit to Scicli Cemetery, where we saw the anonymous graves of people who had died trying to cross to Europe. We heard from two young men who had travelled a long and dangerous route across North Africa, before crossing the sea in a flimsy boat – a journey they knew many others had died attempting.

This short song is a mix of benediction and intercession, which combines male and female imagery for God and evokes the desire of parents everywhere that their children who are travelling, will make it safely to their destination.

God keep you with a mother’s strength
And with a father’s gentleness
God keep you with a mother’s fire
And with a father’s tenderness
God stay with you, God bring you home
